Campus Corps: Food Security & Civic Engagement CoordinatorFlathead Valley Community College (FVCC) was established in 1967 through the collaborative efforts of local citizens committed to providing higher education opportunities without requiring students to leave the valley. Nestled in Kalispellin northwest Montana, just south of Glacier National Park and north of Flathead Lake, FVCC promotes excellence in lifelong learning with a focus on student success and community needs. This project aims to strengthen food security and student well-being at FVCC by expanding the capacity, visibility, and effectiveness of the student food pantry, while fostering a culture of civic engagement through meaningful service opportunities, volunteerism, and community partnerships. The AmeriCorps member will support this work by developing educational materials and workshops on food access, building relationships with local nonprofits, schools, and government entities, and contributing to the planning and implementation of a Spring Service Break event in March 2027. This project is supported by the Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement (MCNCE), a coalition of colleges and universities across Montana dedicated to fostering civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism. Led by CEOs from participating institutions, MCNCE works to strengthen community life while preparing students to be thoughtful, compassionate, and engaged leaders.
