How you'll contribute

  • A Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Medical Technologist) who, under the direction of Administrative and Medical Director, is Technical Supervisor for Microbiology Services of the hospital. Responsible for assuring that all quality control, proficiency testing and maintenance are well-performed and evaluated, policies and procedures are current and well-executed, turnaround time is satisfactory, record systems are well-organized and current, quality improvement mechanisms are implemented, test analyses are monitored, and students are trained.

What we're looking for
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Science, Completed a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) program
  • Certifications: CLS (ASCP), MT(ASCP), or CLS(NCA) Must meet CLIA requirements for General Supervisor in a clinical laboratory.
  • Experience: Minimum Work Experience Four (4) years laboratory professional experience as laboratory technologist in an accredited hospital laboratory.
Essential Functions
  • Annual orientation is completed in a timely manner and competence assessment is completed on all staff annually (semi-annually the first year).
  • As a leader, models responsibility of fostering a harmonious workplace in which exceptional care and service is consistently provided.
  • Confirms that standardized procedures are followed and helps prepare samples for testing.
  • Verifies the collection samples and analyze bodily fluids and substances for abnormalities.
  • Collects blood and study blood samples used in transfusions.
  • Analyzes test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits, and reports/documents results per organizational standards.
  • Performs automated tests using computerized instruments & automated equipment.
  • Performs manual tests based on detailed instructions from a physician.
  • Runs tests and analyzes the results to be reported to the patient, physician or registered nurse.
  • Performs Quality Assurance work to ensure accuracy of equipment.
