The Arc Western Montana is seeking a visionary and mission-driven Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our organization into its next chapter. This is a rare opportunity to guide a trusted nonprofit team of 150+ employees, dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in small, community-based settings.

As CEO, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership, financial sustainability, and continued innovation of The Arc. This role reports directly to the Board of Directors and oversee a skilled executive team, advancing our mission of dignity, inclusion, and independence for all.

  • Salary
    $140,000-155,000 per annum, dependent on experience

    Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage from $47.50 per pay period

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization in alignment with The Arc's mission, vision, and values
  • Oversee strategic planning, budgeting, and organizational development
  • Guide and mentor a multidisciplinary executive team
  • Advocate for individuals with I/DD at the local and state level
  • Ensure financial sustainability and compliance with all regulatory standards
  • Manage and oversee an $11 million budget and multi-million dollar portfolio, in partnership with investment advisors
  • Build relationships with funders, community partners, and government agencies
  • Direct fundraising and grant development initiatives
  • Foster a culture of inclusion, collaboration, and operational excellence

Employment Type

  • Full-time: 40 hours/week

What We're Looking For

  • Experienced & Strategic
    Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred. At least 4 years in a senior leadership role, preferably in nonprofit or human services.

  • Mission-Aligned
    Deep understanding of I/DD systems, Medicaid-funded services, and HCBS waivers.

  • Communicative & Visionary
    Excellent leadership, communication, and advocacy skills.

  • Compliance-Focused
    Familiarity with regulatory standards and financial oversight.

  • People-Centered Leader
    Proven ability to lead teams, manage change, and build strong organizational culture.

  • Requirements
    Must pass all background checks and possess a valid driver's license.
