Job Title: R&D Engineer I/II – Medical Devices (Hybrid)

Location: Missoula, MT | Hybrid (In person 3-4 days/week, Relocation required)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level R&D Engineer to join our Research & Development team. This is a hybrid position, offering a mix of remote work and in-person collaboration at our Missoula-based office and lab.

As an R&D Engineer, you will support the development, testing, and documentation of new medical devices and technologies across various stages of the product lifecycle. You'll work alongside experienced engineers, designers, and quality/regulatory teams to turn concepts into real-world solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, prototyping, and testing of medical devices and components
  • Support verification and validation activities including test planning, execution, and documentation
  • Contribute to risk analysis and design documentation (e.g., requirements traceability, design history files)
  • Participate in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and technical meetings
  • Perform data analysis and generate technical reports under supervision
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with quality, regulatory, and manufacturing teams
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, and other applicable standards
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Internship or project experience in medical device development is a plus
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks), lab testing, and technical documentation
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Interest in regulatory requirements and quality systems for medical devices
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship

Work Environment:

  • Hybrid schedule: approximately 3-4 days on-site per week depending on project needs
  • On-site work may include lab testing, prototyping, or hands-on design activities
  • Remote work includes documentation, data analysis, and virtual collaboration
